MFWD Outreach Workers Set to Kick Off 2012 Summer Season:

Once again, the Migrant Farm Worker Division (MFWD) is gearing up for summer outreach to farm workers in the state’s primary agricultural regions.

Western Slope

From early June through mid-August we will have an intern, Kendra Jimenez, working on the Western Slope. Kendra is attending law school at University of Montana School of Law.  Before attending law school, Kendra worked as a paralegal at an immigration law firm in New Mexico and as a community organizer for ACORN.  Kendra’s office will be at the CLS Grand Junction offices located at 200 N. 6thStreet, Suite 203.

Northeastern   Colorado

For the Northeastern (NE) Region, we will have three student interns visiting farm workers and service providers from early June through mid-August.  William Glassman, law student at the University of Denver, and Miriam Estrada, undergraduate student at University of Denver, will start conducting outreach June 4 and continue through August 8.  Holly Timmerman, law student at Gonzaga University, will be joining our outreach team on June 21 upon her return from studying abroad in Guatemala and will stay through mid-August.  The interns will work out of our Denver office, located at 1905 Sherman Street, Ste 400.

San Luis Valley

In the San Luis Valley, we are very happy to have Rosemary Salvio once again as our outreach worker.  Thanks to Rosemary’s outreach last September, arefarm workers were able to access information about their rights and the MFWD’s services.  Rosemary will start in early July and continue through September ,and she will be working out of the CLS Alamosa office located at 603 Main Street.

Arkansas Valley

Pueblo resident Victoria Bonetto will be conducting outreach to farm workers in the southeastern region, including Pueblo and the Arkansas Valley. Victoria is a student at Colorado State University-Pueblo and spends a lot of her free time assisting the homeless and immigrant populations in her community.  Victoria will officially commence her outreach on July 2 and will continue through September.  Her office will be at the CLS-Pueblo offices located at 1000 West 6thStreet, Suite I.

The permanent MFWD staff members (Attorneys Jennifer Lee and Jenifer Rodriguez, and Paralegal Kyle Endres) are housed in the CLS-Denver office and will accompany the interns on outreach throughout the season. Please feel free to contact MFWD staff and outreach workers at any of the offices listed above or by telephone at 303-866-9366 or 1-800-864-4330.
